The short version: we don't ask for your name, your email address or an account. We can't identify you from what we hold. We never sell or share your data for marketing, and we never see your card details.
Challenge Your Band (challengeyourband.co.uk) is the data controller for the small amount of data described here. Contact: support@challengeyourband.co.uk.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The postcode you search and the property you select | To produce your report, and to see which areas are being used so we can improve coverage | Up to 24 months |
| A random payment reference, the amount, and whether it was paid | To unlock your report, to handle refunds and support requests, and for our tax records | 6 years (UK tax law) |
| Which version of the Terms you accepted, and when | To show what was agreed, if there is ever a dispute | 6 years |
| Standard web server logs, including IP address | Security, fraud prevention and keeping the site running | Up to 30 days |
| Technical error reports | To find and fix faults | Up to 90 days |
We do not collect: your name, your email address (unless you choose to email us), your phone number, or any account or password.
Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own secure page and are never seen, handled or stored by us. Stripe acts as its own data controller for payment data; see stripe.com/gb/privacy.
A property address can indirectly relate to a person. We hold the address of the property you asked about, but we do not hold your name or contact details, so in normal use we cannot tell who you are. Council Tax bands, floor areas and sale prices shown in the report come from published public registers (VOA, EPC register, HM Land Registry) and are already public information.
Only the suppliers needed to run the service: Stripe (payments), our hosting provider (Hetzner, servers in Germany), and our error-reporting tool. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not profile you. The site stores a small amount of information in your own browser (local storage) so your report survives the trip to the payment page and back. That stays on your device and is not sent to advertisers.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our use of it. Email support@challengeyourband.co.uk — please include your payment reference, as it is usually the only way we can find your record.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
If we change this policy we will update the version number and effective date at the top of this page.
